Majestic Mountains

The shining noon sun glinted off of the angular slopes of the snow-drenched mountains. A blanket of white filled the entire horizon, from the brown, rocky base all the way up to the summit, which pierced the crisp, cloudless blue sky like an arrowhead aimed at the heavens.

The blinding white wall was doubled by a perfectly inverted reflection, sparkling up from the still blue waters of a mirror lake. Nothing moved -- not a tree or leaf in sight, not a cloud, not a living thing. A few sparse branches stuck out from the barren shore, skeletal remnants of the once-living shrubs dotting the landscape.  The entire scene was calm and serene, yet foreboding and overwhelming.

I Heard...

"What you're going to write today in your blog is a conversation using proper dialogue format," instructed Mr. G.

Christian responded, "Can I tell the story about how my dad ordered Who's Your Daddy and then Dragon Balls and then my mom cracked up laughing?"

"I don't know what that is."

"It's from Sushi Mambo," Lourdes chimed in.

"What if we don't remember any funny conversations?" Evyn inquired.

"Well, if you don't remember a conversation," Mr. G replied, "you can just use the one we're having right now!"

Puppy Love

Having a pet is fun, but also a big responsibility. Dogs, for example, can make great companions, but they require a lot of work, time, and money.

There are different breeds of dogs, but one thing they tend to have in common is that they have a lot of energy and they need space. This means you can't just take a dog and keep it in a small, enclosed space all the time. You have to provide plenty of room to roam, and it is especially beneficial to take the dog for walks regularly. This is also important for allowing the dog to go to the bathroom.

Pets also require special food. Dogs can eat some leftovers of human food, but it is generally less expensive to feed them dog food. However, a big dog can go through a lot of food! That is something to consider when deciding upon a pet.

Finally, pets -- especially dogs and cats -- sometimes get sick or need special medical care. For this reason, you will definitely need to take your pet to a vet at some point. This takes time and money and it may also be very emotionally difficult if your pet is sick or dying.

There are lots of good reasons to have a pet, but it's good to make sure you are prepared for the responsibilities involved before you get one!
